Well, my wife got a raise, and she decided she wanted to celebrate. Fancy dinner perhaps? Maybe a new outfit? Nope!

Say hello to Edgar Allan Purr.

Kinja'd!!!

She took a half day at work so she could get him after the adoption application was approved. So far he loves to cuddle and mew if he wakes up and realizes he’s in a room alone.

Our other two cats are less than thrilled by the new kitty. Lola is giving him serious side eye and Pitch hisses whenever he’s in the same room.

Did you tell the cat it’s name right as you took the picture? That face...

“Edgar Allen Purr. Really. *sigh* Okay, humans. Just so we’re clear, I’m noooooooot gonna answer to that. Even a tiny bit.”

I have read it to him in my best James Earl Jones voice. He seemed suitably unimpressed.

Can you suggest a name a cat actually would respond to? I know I’m drawing a blank.

Hi Edgar!

The word “treat” is not spoken here.

We have a 15yo cat that gets very excited if she hears that word, and she can’t have treats due to stomach issues.

My old two still hate the one I got a year ago and I just added another to the herd. Not entirely intentional.

Piggy even makes a cone of shame look cute.

Hopefully they warm to him eventually. Lola finally started tolerating Pitch recently; it only took 5 years.

He sounds very friendly! Call them the same thing enough and they’ll respond eventually. We have 2 cats, Tigger & Oliver, they both know their names.. Sounds like you are no stranger to kitty business though.

Lola knows her name for sure and does respond when my wife calls for her.

Pitch on the other hand doesn’t seem to know his. I’d think he was just being a cat and ignoring us, but that just doesn’t fit the rest of his personality. He acts more like a dog than a cat. Including loving belly rubs.
